History
History of the Development
The mission of the department of forestry and natural resources is to provide professional undergraduate and graduate education as well as to explore the researches at the fields of diverse forest ecosystems, to survey, analyze, manage, and sustainably utilize the plants, animal, soil and water resources within them. With the belief that ecosystems are seamlessly and inseparably related to lives of human society, our department provides our students a rich array of academic resources of management of forests and natural resources/ecological application to life environment, to achieve the goal of universal sustainable development. The development of our department has been through different stages as the follows,
- 1926
- 1988-1989 academic year
Our school was reorganized as National Ilan Institute of Agriculture and Technology, which accepted student from junior high school and provided them five-year junior college education for associate degrees.
- 1989-1990 academic year
The department of forestry started to accept students for five-year junior college. study.
- 1998-1999 academic year
Our school was reorganized as National Ilan Institute of Technology. The department forestry started to accept students with associate degree for extended two-year technical college study and bachelor degrees.
- 2001-2002 academic year
The department of forestry started to accept students with senior vocation high school diplomas for four-year technical college education and bachelor degree, whereas the department stopped to accept students for five-year junior college study at the same time.
- 2003-2004 academic year
Our school was reorganized as National Ilan University, where our department was renamed as “natural resources” and started to accept students with general senior school diplomas.
- 2004-2005 academic year
- 2009-2010 academic year
The name of our department was changed as the department of forestry and natural resources.
